Hi!

You might be wondering who I am. Some days, so am I! I’m just like you…well, my name is Tyler. Yours probably isn’t but otherwise, I’m just like you. I’m a dad with a young kid, I work a day job, and have a busy family life. I don’t have time to start a business or make extra money!

At least, that’s what I told myself for years! I had this belief and this feeling, that to me was real, that once the evening arrived, that was it. It was time to relax, watch a show, have a drink, wind down, you know?

However, for a long time, I’ve wanted to build something, make something, something of my own…not to get filthy rich but to bring in extra income and if I can make a little more by providing more value, then that’s great! I’m not a guy who’s “made it”, so to speak. I’m simply someone who has made the decision to try building something of my own.

I’m going to build in the time I have, in the margins I get. For me, this generally means some evenings, and a little time on the weekends. Hustle culture and “GO GO GO” doesn’t work for me. But building calm, steady, and consistently is my bet, allowing me to not give up my already precious time with my son and keeping quality time with my partner. Being in my 40’s, my family is my number 1 priority so this experiment should add to that, not take away from it.

I am starting with this newsletter, which I will use to take you along for the ride. I’ll tell you the truth of my highs and my lows, the lessons I learn, and the mistakes I will definitely make! This includes what it costs, what it earns, the time it takes, real numbers even when they aren’t flattering.

So if you are someone in the middle of it or considering jumping into the game, I invite you to come with me.

Next week, I’ll tell you how I landed on a newsletter, of all things. What else I explored and my failed attempt at a SaaS business…If I can even call it that!
